Rethinking work, money and care through video podcasts
How does mobile money shape financial inclusion in Ghana? What happens to urban life when Airbnb takes over neighborhoods? And what role does capitalism play in our love relationships? In the Bachelor module GEO364 «Wirtschaftsgeographien der Globalisierung», students developed new perspectives on global economic processes.
During the autumn semester of 2024, they critically engaged with current economic challenges of a globalized world – leading to the creation of inspiring and informative video podcasts. A selection of their outstanding work is presented here.
1. Charlene Zehnder – «Ghana’s Mobile Money Dilemma: Taxation, Inclusion, and the Path forward»
2. Kimi Scherrer – «Modern Money Theory als Grundlage für Degrowth?»
3. Antje Pfüller – «Problematik durch Airbnb in Barcelona»
4. Michelle Schaffer – «Kapitalistische Logiken der Liebe: Reproduktionsarbeit innerhalb cis-heteronormativer und queerer Lebensentwürfe»
5. Valentina Wieser – «Die globale Dimension von Care-Arbeit am Beispiel der Live-in-Betreuung»
6. Natalie Abbt – «Saisonarbeitskräfte in der Schweizer Landwirtschaft»
