Launch of the Geography Creative Lab: Innovative student work at UZH in the spotlight

· by Xavier Balaguer Rasillo, Jasnea Sarma, Finn Mempel · in Teaching and studying, What's new

The new UZH Geography Creative Lab website is a collaborative ‘lab’ space created to showcase creative and engaged research produced in various formats by students at our department. Our aim is to move beyond traditional forms of knowledge production and assessment, and to create a space where students’ ideas, innovation, and creativity are showcased and celebrated publicly.

By placing a stronger emphasis on self-expression and innovation, these projects demonstrate the importance of communicating the ideas from our classrooms, from academia, and the research world to the wider public. We highlight these works to draw attention to the unique and valuable contributions students are making both within our faculty, as well as to wider conversations in geography and allied fields.

We hope to continue developing this as a collaborative space for exchange, learning, self-expression, and inspiration for students and researchers in Geography.

While much of the work currently displayed in the Creative Lab focuses on human geography, we welcome and encourage contributions from all areas of the discipline. Whether you’re working in physical geography, GIS, or an interdisciplinary field, we invite you to share your work with our community.

If you’re interested in contributing or learning more about how to get involved, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact us to discuss potential submissions or collaboration opportunities.
